The Father’s Best

What does our Father want for us?  I found the answer to this question in my Bible reading in John this week quite remarkable.

His desire for us is that His Joy be in us, and our joy complete!  Imagine….the God of the Universe wants His joy to be in us!  I mean who could top the joy of an omniscient, omnipotent, all loving God!  I am wanting some of that JOY!  He wants to make sure we don’t miss one part…COMPLETE JOY!  Why do I so reluctantly obey?  Or why do I question his direction?  I don’t want anything less than His joy, complete joy!

John 14:9-12

9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

It seems so simple….yet in actuality it is difficult….He loves us, stay in His love, obey his commands, love one another, Joy abundant and complete…

For me, I know part of the time I miss this when I don’t make the time for Him….then I miss His instructions for the day.  Or I take time with Him but then do my own thing, or I don’t take His commands to heart…like “don’t worry about tomorrow.”  Lately, I have just had to tell myself, “Is it tomorrow? Then don’t worry about it!”  I know that when we I get in God’s word His commands become more prominent, thus enabling me to obey and remain in His love yielding joy.

What do you think keeps you from this joy?
