Many of you already know or have seen the news article that was in the Daily Telegram, our county paper. We were shocked on Sunday morning when we got our paper and we were on the front page! Lad Strayer had come to take the picture on Thursday but we didn’t know when the article would run. What a blessing this has been in spreading the word about our fundraising efforts. So far we have raised close to $7,000! The article by Dave Frownfelder is here: http://www.lenconnect.com/article/20140105/NEWS/140109689/0/SEARCH
Our home study was also completed and that along with the psych evals should be sent to the orphanage in Haiti tomorrow or the next day after they are translated. We should know for sure if we are approved by the Haitian government in two weeks! It has seemed like this all takes forever. We are almost done with our dossier, we just have to get Luke’s doctor letter notarized, as we have to take our own notary to our doctor.
Here on the home front the snow days have been a huge blessing to Ron as he has been going to the school every day to try to get ahead. With teaching 7 hours this really helps him out.
Luke had a few snow days at college as we took him back Saturday afternoon. He said they enjoyed playing Katan, a board game.
I have been reading some AW Tozer over the break and liked this verse from an old hymn he quotes in his book, Keys to the Deeper Life.
The dearest idol I have known,
What’re that Idol be,
Help me to tear it from Thy throne,
And worship only Thee.
In this particular section of the book he is talking about being filled with the Holy Spirit and how ” before there can be fullness there must be emptiness. Before God can fill us with Himself we must first be emptied of ourselves.” He goes on to say, “It is this emptying that brings the painful disappointment and despair of self of which so many persons have complained just prior to their new and radiant experience”.
It seems that as we let go of whatever idols our heart has, He then rushes in and fills us with His very self. To just be able to know Him and to trust Him, what JOY! He is my joy! He is all I need. He is enough. Thank you Jesus, You are Worthy!
Blessings to you for 2014!
